Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This Privacy Policy explains how OBD Master Pro ("OBD Master Pro", "we", "us" or "our") handles information when you use the OBD Master Pro | Car Scanner mobile application (the "App") and the website obdmasterpro.com (the "Website"). By using the App or the Website, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information we process
Vehicle and diagnostic data. When you connect an OBD2 adapter, the App reads data from your vehicle, such as diagnostic trouble codes, freeze frame and readiness data, live sensor values, vehicle identification number (VIN), and coding or adaptation values. This data is used to provide the App's features and is stored locally on your device (for example in your vehicle garage, trip log, logs and reports). We do not sell this data.
Information you enter. Vehicle details (make, model, year, VIN), maintenance reminders, alerts, notes and settings you create in the App are stored on your device.
Purchase information. Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed by Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status; RevenueCat receives purchase-related information such as transaction identifiers, product purchased, purchase date, subscription status and an anonymous app user ID.
Device and usage information. We use the Meta (Facebook) SDK for analytics and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising. It may collect device identifiers (such as the Android advertising ID), device model, operating system version, app version, IP address and app events (for example app installs, app opens and purchases).
Support communications. If you email us, we receive your email address and anything you include, such as connection logs you choose to share. Connection logs contain technical information about your adapter and the communication with your vehicle.
2. Device permissions
The App may request permissions needed to communicate with your OBD2 adapter, such as Bluetooth / Nearby devices, location (on Android versions that require it for Bluetooth scanning), Wi-Fi network access and USB access. Where voice commands are used, the App may request microphone access. These permissions are used only to provide the related features. You can revoke them at any time in your device settings, although some features may stop working.
3. How we use information
- To provide, operate and improve the App's diagnostic, live data, coding and reporting features;
- To verify in-app purchases and provide access to purchased features;
- To understand how the App is used, fix bugs and improve performance;
- To measure the effectiveness of our marketing;
- To respond to your support requests;
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
4. Sharing with third parties
We share information only with service providers that help us operate the App, under their own privacy terms:
- Google Play (Google LLC): app distribution, payments and subscriptions. Google Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.): subscription and purchase management. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Meta (Meta Platforms, Inc.): analytics and advertising measurement. Meta Privacy Policy
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data retention
Vehicle data, reports and settings stored on your device remain there until you delete them in the App or uninstall the App. Purchase records are retained as needed to provide your subscription and meet legal and accounting requirements. Support emails are kept as long as needed to resolve your request.
6. Security
Data sent between the App and our service providers is encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Your choices and rights
- You can reset or limit the use of your advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings > Google > Ads, or Settings > Privacy > Ads, depending on your device).
- You can manage or cancel subscriptions in Google Play (Profile > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions).
- You can delete locally stored data by deleting it in the App or uninstalling the App.
- Depending on where you live (for example in the EU/EEA, UK or California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, or to object to it. To make a request, email contact@obdmasterpro.com.
8. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used for such transfers.
10. The Website
The Website is a static information site. It does not use cookies of its own or require an account. Our hosting provider may log standard technical data such as IP address, browser type and pages requested, for security and operation.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it was last changed. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
